Flecheiras Brazil

Flecheiras is yet another of the unknown kite and windsurfing spots along the coast north of Fortaleza, but its current hidden status is certain to change over the next few years – the PKRA World Tour held a very successful event there in 2006. This small fishing spot can be reached from Fortaleza by taxi in 1,5 to 2 hours.  It lies at the southern end of a long drawn out bay with its seemingly endless sandy beach.  Once you have cast an eye beyond the sand dunes that stretch behind the village, you will never forget the view, because over the houses and between the palms you can see the huge, green-blue shimmering play area made for kiters and windsurfers.  The wind stats show an almost 100% chance of 4 – 6 bft. in the period from June to January, with a very good chance of 65% for similar winds from February to May. So, when you combine the wind with extremely good water conditions, this spot becomes an absolute paradise for kiters and windsurfers.

The village, with its main square set close to the church, a place for young and old to meet, is only a few minutes' walk from the  Pousada Solar das Velas.  In the evening, you have a variety of pizzerias and fish restaurants for good eating to choose from and there are a number of bars on hand for a drink. The newly built promenade brings you home along the beach.  Not only is it well lit but leads directly to Pousada and the station.  Then, at the Hi-Wind beach bar, you can enjoy a final night cap with Brazilian flair before falling into bed.

The Planet Windsurfing and Kitesurfing center, led by Patrick Steiger, is in the hotel grounds right on the beach.  Alongside the newest windsurfing material from our partners Fanatic und North Sails, you will also find the newest kite material from North Kiteboarding.  For those days with less wind than normal, there are wave boards and boogie boards for hire at the station.

Instruction: The Planet Windsurfing Station is an official VDWS Center and works only with properly qualified personnel. The courses range from entry level to advanced and are held in the key European languages (D, E, Sp., Fr., Pt., It.).
