You are more than 6 years old, you can swim

How can I learn windsurfing?
The quickest and most successful way you will
learn windsurfing is with a educated windsurf instructor.
Search a Windsurf school of your choice, and register
yourself for a windsurf beginner course.
Is windsufing difficult?
No, if your choos the right spot, material
and a good windsurfing instructor! And if you also bring
your own ambition and will, then it’s easy to learn
windsurfing.
Is windsurfing dangerous?
No, windsurfing isn’t dangerous. During your
course you will deal with the possible dangers, and you
will learn what to do in emergency situations.
Windsurfing is one of the sports with the less injuries.
How much does it cost to learn
windsurfing?
In a Planet Allsports center, the prebooked
beginner course 10 hours incl. material costs 180 Euro.
Where can I learn windsurfing?
Best in a VDWS tested watersportschool
worldwide, its spot is suitable for windsurf beginners.
Which spots are suitable for
windsurf beginners?
(“Spots” means the area for surfers in a
travel destination). Most suitable spots with flatwater,
with
not many waves, without Shore Break (“Shore break” means
when the waves break right on the shore, and the entry
is made difficult! Choose a spot that offers windsurf
beginner material.
How long does a windsurf
beginner course take?
A windsurf beginner course takes in depence
of the group size between 6 and 10 hours.
How quickly can I learn
windsurfing?
The first success you will see after a few
hours.
After finishing the beginner course you will have the
skills to drive straight independently, to turn, to
drive back to the starting point, and to move you safety
on the water.
How can I recognize a good
windsurf school?
We recommend you to learn windsurfing in a
VDWS licenced school, because the teaching standards and
Instructors are all the time on the best level.
All VDWS schools are visible by flags and sign on the
centers.
In VDWS schools you have the possiblity to get your own
international VDWS licence. With this licence, you can
rent windsurfmaterial everywhere in the world. On most
surfcenters you can only rent material, if you own a
VDWS licence.
Can I learn windsurfing in a
group or alone?
How you prefere! If you learn it in a group
you will have more fun of course and it will be a bit
cheaper.
What is the training for a
windsurf course?
After a short theoretical introduction on the
beach, about the material, weather, water and wind,
you can go directly on the water!
There you will learn to drive straight and to turn.
Later on you will learn to control, turn, jibe,
beachstart and to drive with a harness!
What do I need, what should I
bring with me?
Swimwear is sufficient, wetsuit and surfshoes
for protection against cold and injury, you will get
from
the surfcenter.
What kind of surf material do I
need?
It’s very important to use beginner surf
material, it means special boards for beginners
which are particularly stable, and light sails, to learn
the tecnique easy with little power as possible.
The right material you will get provided during your
course!
Can I surf alone after the
course?
Yes, but in some schools you will need a
windsurfing licence.
Do I get a Windsurf licence
after the course?
You have the possibility to get a windsurf
licence after finishing the course. You have to complete
a short theory and practical test.
Do I have to be a member in a
windsurfclub?
No, to join a windsurf course or to rent
windsurf material you don’t have to be member in a club.
Should I buy my own surf
equipment after the course?
No, you don’t need your own equipment, you
rent the windsurf material on each windsurf center
worldwide.
Often they offer also special beginner material to rent!
Can I rent material after the
course?
Yes of course, you can rent special beginner
material!
How much is a material rental?
If you rent beginner material on a Planet
Allsports center it costs 155 Euro for one week!
